After the appearance of the painting “Unequal Marriage” at the academic exhibition (1862), the whole of Russia started talking about the artist Pukirev. This successful work attracted the attention of the public and caused a heated debate in the press. There are different opinions about unequal marriages. However, history suggests that such marriages in the past brought suffering to young girls who were forced to marry old people.

The events described by the painting date back to the time when American citizens gathered food for the starving Russians.

1904, the year of great changes for Russia, the Russo-Japanese War rumbles in the distance, and a revolutionary storm is ripening very near, ready to devour everything around. It was during this period that Arkady Rylov painted his painting “Green Noise.” In the foreground, the canvases show trees, birch trees and oaks, which bend under the gusts of a storm that begins.

The museum that inspired Mane to create his widely known painting was artist Berthe Morisot. They met in 1868 and in the fall, Berta begins to pose for the artist for the image. The society accepted the finished picture well and in the spring of 1869 it was put up for sale in one of the local salons.
